Brokkr Outdoors was started by Mark Kasper, a lifelong outdoorsman with a passion for quality. Somewhere along the way, our throw-away culture crept into even the gear we trust with our lives outdoors. Tools truly aren’t built to last—not like they once were, when an axe or knife was built with pride and expected to serve reliably for decades, or even a lifetime.

I named Brokkr Outdoors after Brokkr, the legendary Norse dwarf and master blacksmith whose name means 'the one who works with metal fragments.' Alongside his brother Eitri, Brokkr forged Mjölnir—Thor's mighty hammer—a symbol of unparalleled craftsmanship, strength, and precision. Just as Brokkr crafted tools of mythic power and durability, we hand-craft quality axes, knives, and saws built to withstand the rigors of the outdoors and empower modern adventurers.

Every piece that leaves here—whether a standard model or custom order—is built by hand, by me in the USA. I use American steels and some proven options from Europe. Handle materials are US sourced except some exotic woods sourced from around the world. Nothing ships unless it meets a simple but strict standard: it has to be something I’d gladly carry into the backcountry myself.

There are no AI designs here. These tools come from real field experience: years spent camping, building shelters, and processing wood in all kinds of conditions. Designs evolve the old-fashioned way—small batches, constant tweaks, and changes only after they’ve proven themselves in actual field use. The goal is steady, practical improvement, one tool at a time.

If you’re looking for gear that’s meant to be used hard, responsibly maintained, and passed down someday, you’ve come to the right place.

“When a man picks up a knife, there's an old memory from the collective unconscious that surfaces. A knife is an atavistic experience. It was man's first tool and weapon. Man was chipping flint into cutting edges before he invented the wheel. No matter how sophisticated we become, a knife takes us back to the cave.”
